"All in the Family"
Well I knew from talking to Sam on the phone he was a seasoned racer with a lot of experience and a cool car to back it up. So being we have a void of Buicks on our site for no other reason than they are so far & few between I jumped on the chance to shoot his GS. Well when I pulled up to the driveway where the Buick was sitting I noticed a cherry 1970 El Camino SS 454!! I knocked on the door and Sam came out and was hit right away with the question "is that your El Camino?" "No, that's my moms grocery getter!" Uhhh, come again? "Oh, here she is now!" Here's a lady (and I do mean lady!) who shook my hand so hard I thought she broke several bones! So I asked if I could shoot both cars. Well June says "you want to shoot my El Camino?" So off she goes to get the keys. Well it was Sam in front closely followed by June and then me & my Bullitt. Little 'ole lady driver? I don't think so!! You can tell both of these people like to drive!!! So while I was shooting the cars I was also getting some AWESOME stories from both Sam AND June! Sam races this Buick and had just sold his GSX Buick which June tells me it was her favorite car! Then June tells me about having to hand crank her fathers Model T when she was only 8!! Then she tells me stories about riding around in her boyfriend's Duisenberg in high school!! PRICELESS!! It's tough doing these shoots by myself because I miss so much of the story with these owners!! I got a feeling I'll be spending more time with them sometime soon as I'd like to catch a little more history with these two!! Thank you Sam & June, I had a great time!!
