"Johnny Law"
You're cruising along listening to the stereo with the windows down zipping along when all of a sudden something catches your eye in the rear view mirror "AWWWWWW DAMN" it's a cop with his red lights on pulling you over. SH$T!! There's not a worse feeling in the world then seeing those cherries in thee 'ole rear view!! I would say I've been pulled over some 50+ times but you know I have to admit with the exception of maybe once or twice I deserved to get pulled over. And here's how I look at it, for every time I've gotten pulled over there's probably at LEAST 50 time in between I could have been. Usually when you get ticketed it's NOT the first time you've broken the law!
Look, I'm not saying I agree with everything police do as they are human too but just think of all the IDIOTS they have to deal with not to mention all the life threatening situations they're put into, sometimes on a daily basis. I guess I'm writing this for two reasons (1) to help "even up" my karma with the automotive gods and (2) I enjoy a lifestyle to where I have a really hot car & motorcycle and within reason I get to have a LOT of fun with my little babies!
Here's what I'm going for with this little article. If & when you get pulled over don't f$ck with the cop. Even if you KNOW you were not doing anything wrong just pull over and be compliant with the officer. Now this is NOT saying agree with him! I've actually argued my way out of a ticket when I KNEW I wasn't guilty....then!! But don't be a belligerent idiot either, they see enough of that and than they WILL bust you for sure! And NEVER run, too many people have been seriously injured or killed when someone makes a bad decision while running because they are panicked.
Why are you on a muscle car website? Probably because you own or have owned a fast car or motorcycle...GUILTY!!! I've been to court NUMEROUS times and I'm always completely amazed by all the mindless idiots who have pulled life threatening infractions and then wonder why they're in there. If you don't agree with the ticket just think of all the stupid stuff you HAVE done and gotten by with! If it really is a bulls!t ticket take it to court. I know it's a LOT of time & effort to do this but if it truly is a bad ticket you can beat it. I have! Keeping a clean license is VERY important as if you do get in trouble for something serious they will go back and look at your history and if you've been a bad boy or girl they will look at it like you're a danger to yourself and everyone around you and probably not rule in your favor.
And on another subject. All the times I've done stupid idiotic stuff and pulled over I've always done it sober. (not saying much for my judgment!) I like you have lost way too many friends by drinking & driving whether or not they were the ones drunk or not. I'm NOT saying I've never done it, I would be a complete liar if I said I've never drove after a couple of drinks. I just keep a completely different mind frame. If you know you're drunk DON'T DRIVE!! If you've had a couple take it easy. You have a whole lifetime to drive fast, don't do it when you're impaired.
I hope this article doesn't give the wrong impression. I'm not condoning driving fast or drinking & driving but in the real world it happens. I'm just trying to tell you how I've dealt and look at it. Please think through the situation a little and use good judgment. You know if it feels right or not. Sometimes backing off the throttle or taking a cab shows you're a better driver or a bigger person, not to mention saving someone's or your own life. We want you around a while!
Lesson Learned: Look at the bigger picture and don't get caught up in the moment. Losing a race or taking a cab is better than losing your license or worse your life. And ALWAYS comply with the police. They may not always be right but they will always win...ALWAYS!!
